Gregg C. Fonarow, MD, FACC, FAHA is the Eliot Corday Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at UCLA. He serves as Director of the Ahmanson-UCLA Cardiomyopathy Center, Co-Director of UCLA's Preventative Cardiology Program, and Clinical Co-Chief of Cardiology in the UCLA Division of Cardiology. He attained the rank of Professor of Medicine, Geffen School of Medicine, at UCLA in 2003.

His research interests center on acute and chronic heart failure, preventive cardiology, quality of care, outcomes, and implementing treatment systems to improve clinical outcomes. Dr. Fonarow has published more than 400 research studies and clinical trials in heart failure, disease management, preventive cardiology, and outcomes research. New therapies and management strategies for advanced heart failure and research into its pathophysiology are studied and implemented at UCLA under his direction. He has also developed and successfully implemented a comprehensive atherosclerosis treatment program at the UCLA Medical Center (Cardiovascular Hospitalization Atherosclerosis Management Program: CHAMP), which served as the model for the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines program.

Dr. Fonarow is the immediate past Chair of that program and also chaired OPTIMIZE-HF. He is Co-chair of IMPROVE-HF, a national cardiology practice-based registry and performance-improvement program to improve the use of evidence-based medication and device therapies for heart failure. He is also Chair of the steering committee for the ACC ACTION-GWTG Registry. James E. Udelson, MD is Chief of the Division of Cardiology and Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Tufts Medical Center. He is a Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and in 2012 received the Distinguished Faculty Award from the medical school. Dr. Udelson’s research interests involve studying the effects of new therapeutic modalities in the settings of heart failure and chronic coronary artery disease, as well as the development of imaging modalities to assess those effects.

He was Associate Editor for the American Heart Association (AHA) journal Circulation from 2004-2016. In 2008, he was appointed as the initial Editor-in-Chief for the AHA’s new journal, Circulation: Heart Failure.
