Responsible for writing and editing accurate, concise, and relevant healthcare information for content outlines, manuscripts, slides and other projects. Interact with faculty, consultants and providers to shape the content of assigned projects. Responsibilities include:
  • Write and edit a variety of oncology and related medical education materials, including needs assessment documents, slide programs, sales training materials, continuing education monographs, professional journal manuscripts, video scripts, audiotape scripts, website copy, meeting agendas and summaries, and various pamphlets, brochures, posters, invitations, and introductory and confirmation letters.
  • Develop educational content for oncology physicians, oncology nurses, pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and patients.
  • Write and edit functions, including preliminary research and topic development, drafting of original manuscripts, substantive editing of author drafts, and review of proofs and bluelines.
  • Draft proposal copy when necessary.
  • Assist in the development of supporter updates and team meeting notes.
  • Work closely with Medical Science Director to ensure accuracy and relevance of materials, providing fair balance for CE/CME programs, and maintaining conformity with product labeling for promotional materials.
  • Edit and verify graphic materials for clarity and accuracy. Work closely with art and production staff on development of visual materials, ensuring that timelines are met.
  • Identify medical professionals who can serve as speakers, authors for manuscripts, advisory board members, or speakers bureau members (in cooperation with Managing Editor and/or Science Director).
  • Correspond with authors when developing and preparing manuscripts.
  • Travel to advisory board meetings, symposia, presentations, and other functions to provide on-site support and editorial services, and forge relationships with clients/supporters and thought leaders.
  • Prepare speakers and moderators on-site for successful presentations.
  • Correspond with clients/supporters regarding feedback on specific projects.
  • Attend society meetings and report on key findings and quality of presentations.
  • Re-purpose material into other formats, e.g., symposium slides to a published monograph or videotape.
  • Keep up-to-date on new clinical and research findings in relevant fields.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in a related medical/biomedical or psychosocial field, including Clinical Psychology.
Two (2) years of experience in scientific or medical writing/editing and medical communications focusing on accredited education.
Proficient in research, interpretation, and analysis of clinical data.
Knowledge of accreditation requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Ability to write grants and develop content for educational programs in oncology and other health sciences, journal supplements, monographs, webcourses, and webinars, for CME, ANCC, and ACPE accredited programs.
Working knowledge of the print and production process.
Experience with searching online information sources (e.g.,,, TRIP Database, Google Scholar).
Demonstrated success working independently and as a member of a high functioning team.
Demonstrated ability to write funded CME grant requests and successful program content.
Proficient using Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint.
This position requires only little domestic travel (5%).
